let it mature....

Picked up the films on Saturday. Again the borders still not quite right. Depite trying film processors in 3 countries the best is still Kentish Town Snappy Snaps !

I opened up the packet and was disappointed - apart from one they were really washed out. I randomly grabbed two rolls one from SF and one from Sydney. Yesterday I staggered into Berkolows on Paddington's Oxford St (fantasitic bookshop/cafe) managed to drop my holga fishing for my purse. My bag is filled to the brim with sunhat, 8 rolls of medium format, a water bootle, maps, pens, moleskeine notebook, leaflets, mobile phone, a lomo, glue stick etc so things tend to go flying. The waitress recognised the holga camera and when she brought over my order we had a lovely chat about cameras. I showed her the processed film (she had a 35 mm holga) and even in the few hours I'd put them away they seemed to improve with a bit of distance. I experience this over and over again. Put away a piece of creative work - let some time elapse- and then look at it. Its amazing how the response to a piece of work with a bit of disance can change. I sometimes think I need time to let go of the original image I have in my head when I take the photograph and to get used to what I actually get.

But the same thing happens with pieces of writing. I find fragments from years back and reread them and wonder why I didn't continue with them.

I left the CD with the images at the hostel. I'll try and upload a few tomorrow.
